 Detective Quinn was killed when he was assaulted by a suspect he was arresting for Disorderly Conduct. Detective Quinn was walking along 4th Avenue in Brooklyn when he heard yelling and people in the streets. Detective Quinn approached the suspect and asked him to stop. When the suspect became abusive, Detective Quinn started taking the suspect to the Forth Avenue Police Station on a charge of Disorderly Conduct. As they were walking, the suspect turned and punched Detective Quinn in the chest, causing him to fall backwards and strike his head on the ground. Detective Quinn died a short time later from a fractured skull.

Detective Quinn had bee a member of the New York City Police Department for 11 years.

Det Quinn, you showed the NYC that even the most minor thing is dangerous to the men and woman who have to intervene and restore peace. You will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace John J. we pray for you.
