 Ptl. Eugene Burns was assigned to a fix post at Riverside Drive and West 133rd Street, when shortly before 2300 hours an automobile struck and threw him over 30 feet. He died shortly thereafter at J. Hood Wright Hospital. He was 45 years old.

Patrolman Burns was stationed in the 36th Pct - today's 26th.

According to a news clipping dated May 4, 1914, ..."patrolman of the West One hundred and Twenty-fifth street station, killed May 5, 1913, stopping a flying automobile."
